TVB Eye in the Sky Episode Thoughts (Episode 3)

Eye in the Sky (Episode 3)

I liked episode three. Here’s a recap of what happened:

First Sitou Sir introduces Fate Fan and Nik (Ruco) to the security colleagues and shows the two around. Sitou Sir tells the two of the things they need to be aware of as a security guard and Fate Fan funnily said, “Why so serious? We’re security guards not anti-terror officers”.

Moving on Nik and Fate notice Teacher Zhu and the senior manager cooking food. They were thinking “Why do these two need to do these things themselves” and the manager beside them say it’s for the big boss – the boss of the hotel. Nik follows Mrs Zhu carrying the food to the hotel boss’s room. In order to get in the room, Mrs Zhu needs to go through a fingerprint and eye security process. Before Nik could have a look at the security process, SItou Sir comes and tells him that he shouldn’t be swapping roles with Fate Fan.

Pause. Why is Nik so curious about the big boss? Every time Nik is up to something there’s always the suspicious background music and we have yet to know what he wants to know. On the other hand Fate Fan is pretty funny as a selfish, lazy and flirtatious person. He likes to take advantage of others (Nik) and does not shut his mouth. Jonathan Cheung is doing a decent job here.

Continue. Back to the detective agency, Detective George assigns Jenny (Tavia) and Agatha (Samantha) to spy on his rich businessman. Agatha fails to take any clear photos of him since the camera lens were all blurry. Whilst Agatha was complaining about the outdated spying equipment that they have, Jenny noticed that someone was taking photos of them. It turns out it was this foreign photographer with a nice white car. He said, “Sorry I was trying to take photos of the beautiful scenery but didn’t know that there’s also beautiful girls in here. Sorry I couldn’t control myself. Your camera is also very classic. I like it.”

Pause. A lot of flirty characters in this series. From the fake Sitou Sir to Fate Fan to Tony Hung (yet to catch his name). The scriptwriter of this series must know a lot of pickup lines for sure.

Continue. Sitou Sir was trying to look for Jenny at the shopping mall (the mall they met the other day) but no success and then goes to a noodle store for lunch. He bumps onto Nik coincidently and then they order the same noodle dish. They both try to get the same sauce. Nik asks “Can I ask you a question please?” and Sitou Sir says, “You already opened your mouth. Go ask”. Nike then asks why don’t you become a police officer, you’re already proven innocent”. Sitou replies, “I’ve said it a couple of time before. The responsibility of a security guard is to also respect the privacy of others”.

Pause. It seems like an insignificant scene but it suggests quite a lot of things. First this scene showed Sitou Sir and Nik having similar or identical interests in terms of eating – making the theory of them as twin brothers more reasonable. But if they are twin brothers and Nik was the fake Sitou Sir who made love with Jenny, why did his voice suddenly change? Did he get a lot of nutrition when he was out of HK that he now is taller than the real Sitou? It doesn’t look convincing if they are twin brothers because plastic surgery is not a good enough excuse – but TVB likes to defy logic anyway. Also, we get to know here that Nik is quite a nosy person. Perhaps he is curious as to why Sitou Sir is so tempted to investigate the case when it’s already proved his not guilty. This could mean that Nik was the fake Sitou Sir and he is worried if Sitou Sir keeps on looking for evidence he would eventually find out it’s him.

Continue. Back to the detective agency there’s a case where a guy is suspecting his wife is cheating on him. Jenny and Agatha spy on the wife and they follow her all the way to the service apartment where Nik and Sitou works (how convenient). It turns out that Tai Lun – Terry (Tony Hung) is also planning to stay in the service apartment. He flirts with the receptionist, “Do you know that you have a sweet smile? Seeing how sweet you are I feel dizzy? Can I have the chocolate?” The chocolate was used by Fate Fan before to flirt with the receptionist where he used a funny pickup line, “Can I have the chocolate? I want to know whether the chocolate is sweeter or you”. Anyway Fate Fan saw Terry trying to flirt with the receptionist and tells him off for taking photos.

Pause. Everyone has good pick-up lines.

Continue. Jumping ahead to more memorable scenes there’s Sitou Sir at a restaurant. Sitou Sir sees Kam Kong a.k.a the big gangster and then interrogates him at toilet, saying “Over one year ago who went and burned all your supplies?” and before Kam Kong could say a word this guy shot him on the head. Kam Kong was dead and the masked guy left.
Pretty sure that was Nik.
Sitou Sir realises that Jenny is the only left that could help him find evidence to prove he is innocent. Nik comes in the room where Madam Wong (Lin Xia Wei) and Sitou Sir were discussing about Jenny all of a sudden and offers help to find her. They go to the shopping mall together and still no hope. It was late and Sitou says “it’s late let’s leave. Nik asks “Where are you heading” and then Sitou Sir offers him a lift back home. In the car ride Nik all of a sudden says he needs to take a poo and Sitou Sir says “the only toilet nearby is at my home”. They arrive at Sitou Sir’s home and then Nik hurries to the toilet while Sitou’s mum asked, “Who the hell is he? How rude to not even say hi”. By the time Nik comes out he recognises that Sitou Sir’s mum is a TV celebrity chef and Nik non-stop compliments her.

Pause. Sitou Sir’s mum is a funny person as well .She is loud-mouthed, direct and picky.

Continue. Sitou Sir’s parents invite Nik for dinner and then during dinner Sitou parents reveal more about Sitou. “This is the first time that Sitou has ever brought anyone back home. He usually doesn’t have much friends or talk much about work. Don’t tell me you guys  are together? (thinking Sitou is bringing a boyfriend) and obviously Sitou and Nik said no. Sitou’s parents ask about Nik’s family and Nik said he an orphan and no mum or dad.

Pause. I wonder if Sitou’s parents are also the parents for Nik. Very confused now.

Continue. Anyway whilst playing Ping Pong Sitou Sir and Nik talk about finding Jenny. Nik this time said “Don’t worry if we have the will power we will eventually find that Jenny”. Next day Jenny and Detective George check in at the hotel that Sitou Sir and Nik were working (so they can “further deeply” investigate the cheating wife) and surprise, surprise, they see Sitou Sir and Nik.

End. Good episode where there is some development in the story. We now get to see Sitiou Sir and Nik become from colleagues to friends. In the last episode NIk was portrayed as some-one observant, honest and caring but in here I just see him as nosy, shifty and mysterious. He is curious about everything and now making me curious on why he is curious. Confusing.

Performance-wise, Kevin Cheng is doing a good job. Sitou Sir is consistently a professional, cool and quiet person his convinced me with minimal facial expressions and a cool-sounding speaking tone. Ruco on the other hand no complaints from me – also doing a good job. No comment for everyone else.

This series is still interesting but I want the story to move faster. I want Sitou Sir to move away from the case and return to his position as a police officer. We will get there eventually.
