TVB Eye in the Sky Episode Thoughts (Episode 11,12)
Episode 11:
Start. Back to the scene where Szeto was interrogating Terry and then Nik rushes in.
I will repeat what Nik said:
"Leave Terry alone, it's got nothing to do with him. I am your twin brother".
Pause. Kevin Cheng was impressive again with his expressions. He gave the "what the hell" look, then his eyes were examining Nik's face and body, going, "no way, this can't be true. We don't even look alike". He gave the reaction that every shocked brother would.
Continue. Anyway Szeto asks why didn't he tell him before and Nik said that it was because he knows Szeto is a righteous person and like what he did to his old classmate, he would arrest Nik for committing a crime. Before Nik could say any more Terry urges to take him back to the hospital where he is still in pain of course.
Pause. I've come to the conclusion now that Nik's character is someone who is somewhat insecured and it's realistic. Even though his been with Shun and the family for a while he doesn't know how they would react knowing his their son/brother and a son/brother who committed crime and took plastic surgery.
In the hospital Szeto's parents come and Szeto go, "Hey mum and dad, I've found little brother".
Szeto's parents go, "What are you on about? Your little brother died ages ago. Don't mention about this anymore!" Szeto explained that what happened and teary mum and dad now know everything.
Pause. They did look surprised but I would say short from shocked or astounded. It was like, "Ohhh really!" rather than "What the hell? This is crazy. I need time to accept this fact!" sort of reaction.
Continue. Nik notices that Shun appears to be cold and not smiling even though he's finally found his little brother. Nik goes to Shun what's wrong and Shun said,
"I am still suspicious about you. Why are you following Hon Sheng. What is your intention of spying her?"
Nik basically explains about how he suspected she was the one who caused his face to be badly burned and he wants to find the truth.
There was a line that I particularly sounds true:
"Shun, you have not experienced what I have experienced. You will never be able to understand all the pain that I went through and the fear from seeing the surgeons slicing my skin here and there. You will not understand what it feels to look in the mirror and see a stranger's face."
Yes guilt trip him and Shun obviously felt bad.
"Listen to me. I am sorry as well. I placed a spy cam in your room. We are brothers and we shouldn't be mistrusting each other. As long as you don't commit crime along we will always be bros."
Doesn't seem like Nik will stop committing crime though.
Anyway Shun's parents now pay special attention to Nik. They buy him everything and tell him to ask for whatever and they will get it for him to repay what he missed out in his childhood, etc. They even offer Nik to sleep in the same room as Shun now. Shun obviously didn't mind.
Nik comes back to the room after taking a shower and sees Shun spying on Hon Sheng.
Pause. I'm pretty sure Shun is off-duty now given that he is in his room now. Isn't he being unethical or committing a crime or invading other people's privacy? I'm just being petty here but the irony is there.
Continue. Nik comes to a cafe with Terry and they are now worried that if Shun finds out more about Hon Sheng he will eventually find out about their major crime, which is tre-passing and thief of a jewllery worth 5 billion dollars.
Thus, Nik tells Shun no need to follow Hon Sheng and Shun goes fine.
With Hon Sheng aside, Nik now intends to date Jenny who he made love with. Nik takes Jenny to a beach at night and takes photos with special effects.
Pause. That was a good light-hearted moment but I know it wouldn't last. Jenny would eventually find out that Nik likes her and she doesn't like Nik because Nik does not look like the Shun she made love with and imagined in her memories despite it is indeed the Szeto she met. How silly anyway.
Continue. What was more silly though was when Nik was dreaming about Jenny dressed up as an angel and smiling, Shun was too - (because they are twin brothers and they can dream the same thing due to the special connection). Shun noticed that this dream was what Nik was imagining and from then he knew that Nik was in love with Jenny who he started to like.
Pause. If Shun and Nik share similar dreams and share the pain they endure, how come Shun didn't have nightmares of getting plastic surgery, or feel constant pain on his nose, chin and face in general from all those operations? And how about having dreams of living a rough life? How irony yet Shun could see Nik's dreams of Jenny as an angel but not Nik's past experiences that were probably more memorable and unforgettable. Silly I say.
In the meanwhile, the hotel guest portrayed by Susan Tse could hear creepy wailing sounds resembling of a baby crying (that's pretty scary I say) and she complains to the manager who approaches her and said she's the only one who could hear it. The hotel manager suspects that Susan didn't get enough sleep and Susan said, "What. You saying I am a maniac?" The hotel manager didn't mean that but she was busy so she left not believing whatever Susan said.
Poor Susan.
Continue. If we rewind back to the scene where Nik and Terry were in the cafe. They actually decided to put false rumours of Hon Sheng having the jewellery so Mr.Pittman and the gang would target her instead of Shun and thus they will have a fight themselves.
Subsequently, Hon Sheng received a call from Mr.Pittman and the gang to meet up. She arrives dressed in cool clothes.
One of them said, "Did you bring what I wanted?"
HS: "No".
"Two years ago I ordered the jewellery."
HS: "You can only blame yourself for taking a wrong order".
"How dare you"
They have a fight and Hon Sheng mystically takes out all four of them and holds the guy.
HS: "Tell me, why did you try and catch the security guard last time?"
"He's not a security guard. He's a big thief who stole my jewellery. Weeks ago I saw him again so we decided to get him."
All of a sudden, someone shots Hon Sheng's gun off her hand. Armless, the white guy takes control of her and grunts, "Give me the jewellery or die".
"Kill me. Even if you kill me you won't get the jewellery."
Just when he was about to shoot her a mysterious guy from the background shoot both of the guys dead. Hon Sheng looked around and saw him and grasped, "Boss!"
The episode ends showing the mysterious man whose face was dimmed. End.
Suspenseful ending I say. My favourite parts of this episode was of course Nik reunioning with Shun and the Szeto family and then the end. There are several questions viewers are probably asking now:
"Who is boss?" - I suspect it is the hotel boss but his blind.
"So then if it is the hotel boss he is really blind or just pretending to be blind?" - No idea.
One thing that I am not getting is why didn't Hon Sheng recognise Shun's face as the thief back in Manilla? Surely she would of seen a glimpse of his face or recognise Shun's voice (the Kevin Cheng voice) when he yelled, "let's go".
I am liking this series more and more now because of the impressive performances by both Ruco and Kevin, only to be dragged down by Jenny's rather pointless character and the wannabe smart and clever storyline when it is sometimes rather silly, inconsistent and illogical.
Episode 12:
I frankly don't have much to comment about this episode as I am not interested about the Nik-Jenny-Shun love triangle which basically consumed a large proportion of this episode.
The only thing I wanted to comment on was why the hell did the hotel boss come downstairs to Hon Sheng's room????? Wouldn't Hon Sheng warn the hotel boss about Susan Tse who has access to her room?
Poor Madam Chik who is now the one framed for killing her auntie.
After watching episode 12, my thoughts about this series is pretty much still the same.
